This morning's breakfast was light and simple.  Gavin and I managed to wake up at a reasonable hour, so we thought we should get a game of tennis in.  I made Gavin a bowl of cereal, while I had Milo with milk and hot water.

We shared a fruit plate with watermelon, pear, and kiwi, along with a black coffee.

After an hour of tennis, we were ready for a big lunch.  I made Vermicelli noodle soup.  I started by chopping and boiling some sweet potatoes.

While they were cooking, I cut some chili peppers, lemon grass and bok-choy.

I also diced silken tofu into good sized cubes.

Once the potatoes were cooked through, I added some vegetarian soup stock into the water, along with the noodles, veggies, and tofu.

I let it all cook together a bit, then served.

We topped ours with some fresh lettuce.  It was pretty tasty.

Gavin and I spent our afternoon doing some run around, and finally came home ready for a snack.  I had a chocolate croissant, while Gavin had a slice of banana pudding.

There were also some unpictured wasabi peas, taro chips and a square of chocolate during our afternoon movie!

Another Sunday

Sunday morning started off normally.  I had Milo with warm milk, coffee with cream and some watermelon.

Lunch was uneventful.  We went to the noodle place by our house and I got fried rice.  It was pretty gross so I gave half of it to Gavin.  I tried to nap in the afternoon, but couldn't so I had another coffee around 4.  This evening's work provided meal was pretty bad.  They gave out Hum Bo's (sweet meat filled rolls).  Mine was really gross, but I was pretty hungry , so I picked at it.

When we finally arrived home this evening, I was starving.  Due to lack of creativity, I made more spring rolls.  These ones just had lettuce and Vermicelli noodles in them.  I had four dipped in chili sauce.

I also dug into this bag of jack-fruit chips.  So yummy.

New Years Resolutions

I am awful at completing goals I set for myself.  I have been my whole life, especially when they pertain to food and diet plans.  I am a self sabotager, who loves snacks and had a weakness for anything sweet.  However, I have noticeably gained some pounds around my middle and am determined to lose them by changing my eating habits slowly, but steadily.  How will I accomplish this?  Small, monthly goals rather than a million big ones set on one day: do or die.  So here it goes:

January's Goals.
1. Quit smoking (this actually my biggest goal for the year.  I really want to be through with this awful habit of mine.  It has gone on long enough.)
2.  Cut BEER out of my diet.

Expect plenty of posts this month pertaining to my goal.

Happy New Years!

Today started late, Gavin and I were exhausted after our big night last night that included work, dinner with friends, seafood feasts, Russian dance party, etc.  We woke up around noon and made it out of house at two.  For lunch I got a giant bowl of Pho Bo Chin (Beef noodle soup).  I wasn't into the meat, so I ate around it.

I also had a lemonade.

After lunch we did a pretty major shopping trip at the super market and did some cleaning around the house.  I worked up quite an appetite, and made some spring rolls.  These had Vermicelli noodles, lettuce, tofu and cabbage.  I had four from the pile and dipped them in chili sauce.

We spend our evening lounging around the house, watching films and snacking.  We had some Pocky sticks,  chocolate and an unpictured yogurt cup.

Finally I got around to cooking some pasta with broccoli, tomato sauce and cheese for dinner.  I had a small helping, it was filling and tasty!
